Follow these quick steps to turn your iPhone or iPad into a shortcut remote for Mac:
- First, you need to install the app “Alfred Remote” on your iPhone or iPad. The app is free of cost and available on the App store.
- Once the application is installed just make sure that your iPhone and Mac are connected on the same WiFi network.
- Now launch Alfred remote app on your device and wait till it searches for Alfred on Mac.
- Open Alfred settings on your Mac by clicking Alfred icon on your menu bar and select “Preferences”.
- On the Alfred settings window, tap remote icon from the menu bar on the top.
- Check “Enable Alfred Remote Server” option on the right.
- Now, at the bottom right corner of the window, tap on “Add iOS Remote” button.
- Alfred will now take a few seconds to look for the mobile device on which “Alfred Remote” is installed.
- As soon as Alfred locates your mobile device, you’ll see a small pop up on your iPhone along with your Mac’s name. Tap on the icon and proceed further.

Customizing Shortcuts On Alfred
Once both the devices are synced successfully, the next step involves customizing Alfred shortcuts.
- As soon as you’ll open Alfred on your Mac, you’ll be greeted with a bunch of pre-made shortcuts. You can customize all these shortcuts in the Alfred settings.
- If you wish to delete a pre-made shortcut, right click on the shortcut and tap on “Delete”.
- To create a new shortcut, click on any empty square shaped box.
- Once you click on the box a menu will pop with options like launching an app, executing a system command, running a script, and more.
- Once you create a new shortcut to open Mac notifications, now it’ll appear on your mobile device. Every Time you tap on that shortcut it’ll open Mac’s notification settings instantly.
