Google Introduces “Backup and Sync” App For Desktop Users

It has always been a challenge to keep your important files and photos safe and backed up. We keep our photos and other files in several places like on our System’s hard disk, on SD cards, phone etc.

To keep your photos organized and safe Google has launched Backup and Sync app. This new tool replaces the existing Google Photos desktop uploader and Drive for Mac/PC. All you need to do is to choose a folder or to connect the device and select the folder concerned and the rest will be taken care of.

How it works:

The utility has a downloadable installation file. So, the first step is to download the installation file from the official website.

Next you need to run .exe file to proceed for the installation. The application may ask you for some permissions to allow it to access data on your PC/ MAC.

Once the application is installed on your device, you need to sign up with your Google account.

Now you will see a screen like this.

Click on next to proceed further. You can choose to back up only photos and videos or to backup all file types.

Next you can choose either you want to upload images in original quality or in high quality with reduced size.

As you can see, you will get unlimited storage for High quality and 12.9 GB for original quality.

Looking forward, the tech giant is planning to release a new enterprise-focused solution called Drive File Stream, which is expected to rolled out for all G Suite Basic, Business, Education, Enterprise and Nonprofit domains later this year.
