I have just returned the Presonus AudioBox as it left me both disappointed and frustrated. It was problematic when trying to record vocals via Garage Band using my iPad Air. It felt as if I was trying to put a square peg in a round hole. Anyway thank you for your research, it has been very helpful. It seems that the Focusrite might be a better replacement, hopefully with no complications.

The best interface is MOTU’s $150 M2. For $150 you get two high end ESS Sabre32 DACs, (that come on $1000 and above interfaces), a big beautiful LCD volume display, 5-pin MIDI ports(!), and MOTU’s Loopback feature which allows you to record the audio streams of the OS. No other interface offers that combination of high end features for $150. And if you need four channels, the M4 is $249. Long live MOTU!

Errr as an audiofuse owner and iPad Pro owner. If you can get this combination to work you are better than I. GarageBand can’t find it. I can play in bias but have issues routing into GarageBand. Works well on my laptop.
