With each new update, Windows keeps getting better and offers us new ways to make the most of our time with features that help create and connect across devices. Yes, we all agree to this! But wouldn’t it be great if we make Windows 10’s environment a bit less annoying and more pleasing. How about we de-clutter the Start menu by removing useless advertisements, icons which we don’t use frequently?
So folks, here are a few tips that will improve your Windows 10 experience and make it way less annoying.
1. Goodbye Junk Apps
As Windows keeps releasing new updates, the size of the Start menu expands too. It is full of Candy Crush icons, Farmville, Bubble Witch and more. If you’re not a gaming fan then seeing these icons pop on screen every time you open Start menu can get pretty annoying. Apart from these games there are a few apps too that we hardly use but they keep sitting in our Start menu forever. Well, guess it’s time to say goodbye to all junk apps. Launch Windows 10’s Start menu, scroll through the list of apps, and right click on any app or game which you wish to uninstall so that it no longer occupies space on your Start menu.
2. Get Rid of Bloatware
Windows operating system is a massive platform! There are always a few manufacture software that are running in the background and wait to install. To get rid of all such Bloatware here’s what you need to do. Head on to Control Panel > Uninstall a Program or Settings > Apps > Apps & Features. Scroll through the list of apps and uninstall any manufacturer provided app which you no longer want on your system.
If you’re having a tough time looking for applications then you can also prefer starting afresh. Open Start menu and search for “Windows Defender Security Center”. Now tap on “Device Performance & Health” and select “Additional Info” under Fresh Start and click the “Get Started” button to continue.
3. Declutter Taskbar
Windows 10’s taskbar is way too cluttered with apps and icons. To remove useless icons from taskbar and make it lighter here’s what you need to do. Simply right click anywhere on the taskbar to open the context menu. Now uncheck all the options including “Show Task view button”, “Show People on Taskbar” etc. to keep your taskbar less cluttered with apps and icons.
4. Update your Default Search Engine
So folks, just frankly tell us how many times have you actually used Bing to search on web? Most of us, in fact a majority of users prefer Google over Bing any day. Similarly, we also prefer Google Chrome over Microsoft Edge as we’re pretty used to of working on Google’s environment. To set your default search engine and web browser here’s what you need to do. First, launch Edge browser if you haven’t yet installed Chrome on your device. Open Google.com, tap on menu > Settings > View Advanced Settings > Change Search Engine, and then set Google as your default.
In the same way, to change your default web browser and set it as Google, head on to Settings > Apps > Default Apps. Select “Web Browser” option here, and tap on “Google Chrome” option.
5. Disable Sticky Keys Shortcut
This sticky keys pop up alert has been annoying us since decades. Especially while we’re playing games on Windows, certain key combinations always stop the gameplay and then this sticky key alert pops us on the screen to annoy us to death. So, to stop this annoyance forever open Windows 10 Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard. Uncheck the “Allow the shortcut to start Sticky Keys” option to say goodbye to this annoyance.
6. Manage Start up Programs
Does your Windows take forever to boot? If yes, then there’s actually something wrong. If your Windows is taking too long to boot then there must be a bunch of start-up programs running in the background. To manage startup programs on Windows 10 head on to Settings > Apps > Startup. A list of programs and apps will appear on the screen. Toggle off the apps which you no longer want to automatically launch at the time of startup.
