iPhone users sure do love their “PRIVACY” as per the new reports released by Flurry

Flurry, an app analytics firm has finally released its report and data on App Tracking Transparency. By analyzing this data, a shocking fact comes to light and that is 96% of iPhone users in the states have turned off the app tracing option that was provided to them after the iOS 14.5 update. This proves that people love their privacy and Apple seems to have made the right decision.

To understand this report from the other side of the bank, we can see that 4% of iPhone users have allowed App Tracking in the United States and if you talk about the international users then it amounts to 11%. Many users have appreciated the iOS 14.5 update and believe that a user must have the right to choose whether he/she wishes to share his browsing data with anyone or not.

Before iOS 14.5, users did not have the option to turn off the tracking and all apps relied on Apple’s Identifier for Advertiser (IFDA) to get the user’s data to display personalized ads and attract the user. But all apps, including Apple’s apps, now require user’s permission to do so in those iPhone devices that have been upgraded to iOS 14.5.

The data was gathered and analyzed by Flurry Analytics that is owned by Verizon Media from over 1 million mobile applications across 2 billion devices per month. Flurry has stated that this report would be updated daily (Except Weekends) at 10 AM PST. The report will consist of the number of users that have opted out or opted in Apple’s App Tracking Transparency module, both in the US and globally.

According to experts, this is the iOS update that has made history by creating a large impact on the software industry and iOS app developers’ source of income. This is because every new app installed or updated after iOS 14.5 must ask the user permission to track them. And the user is also empowered to turn off tracking by all apps installed on your device with a single toggle of the ATT button towards the left. This option is available in the Settings app of the iPhone device which also lists the apps that have the permission to track and that don’t. Users can change this permission status anytime they wish to.

However, we cannot conclude yet as these are the first numbers only. It will take time to completely understand the average number of people that have opted out and prefer to keep it that way. It is important to keep our browsing data private and prevent app tracking but on the other hand, this would result in meaningless ads which would not attract us. App tracking did have one advantage as it displayed those products and services that we have searched for and thus help make things easier to choose for us.
