How To Turn Off Fast Startup in Windows 10

What is Fast Startup?

Windows 10 is truly a bunch of useful features, and Fast Startup is one of them. Formerly came with Windows 8, it provides faster boot time whenever you start your computer. Works as similar to hybrid sleep mode and it’s enabled by default to reduce the time it takes for the computer to boot up from being fully shut down. Works even faster than hibernate!

Faster boot times sounds great functionality to have, so why anybody wants to turn it off?

As your PC isn’t shutting down fully, many devices are put in and brought out from hibernation continually, therefore leading to causing these issues.

How To Disable Fast Startup Windows 10?

If none of the aforementioned issues have happened to you, it is suggested to live with Fast Boot enabled. And if you’ve finally decided to get rid of it, follow the steps below to disable it!

METHOD 1- Disable Fast Startup in Windows 10 Through Control Panel

 Step 1- Go to the Control Panel > type ‘Power option’ and hit Enter.

Step 2- A menu will appear, select > Choose what the power buttons do.

Step 3- Look for Shutdown Settings and under that uncheck the box “Turn on Fast Startup”.

Step 4- Press ‘Save Changes’ to get the desired effect.

METHOD 2- Disable Fast Startup in Windows 10 Through CMD

Step 1- Go to the Windows Key and search for Command Prompt.

Step 2- Now don’t press enter, just right-click on Cmd icon and select option ‘Run as administrator’.

Step 3- Type and execute the following command: “powercfg – h off” and click Enter.

Conclusion

 So, as you have seen that Fast Startup might seem a nice feature at first sight, but it has several ugly side effects as well. Though it should not always be disabled, as if you’ve spent time on Windows 10 for a while and have experienced zero issues you can keep it activated.
