Well, there are actually some organizations who appoint aspiring individuals to work with them under the designation of “Hacker”. Hackers are not always that ‘Guy in the black hoodie’ living on the terrace of a ruined apartment. People often have this typical perception about hackers. But the fact of the matter is, these stereotypes are Hollywoodized!
Hackers are no mafiosos, they are common people like you & me with ordinary lives. Any clever programmer can be a hacker. In cybersecurity, a hacker – as a general rule – is someone who seeks and exploits weakness in a computer system or networks.
Hacking is not all about coding and decoding. Any curious individual can become a hacker if he/she possesses these particular set of skills-
Smart Problem Solvers
Hackers don’t solve problems, rather they like playing with them! To become a smart hacker, it’s important that you don’t get messed up with day to day problems. Instead you should dare to search alternative solutions to solve it to make it even more challenging. You need to believe that the thinking time of other hackers is valuable. Hence, it is a noble responsibility for you to share your knowledge, solve problems to produce remarkable solutions. However, if you don’t have problems, then develop some.
Creativity
It’s important for a Hacker to think out of the box in a little artistic manner. In fact, creativity is more than necessary if you really want to become a successful hacker. This is one aspect that will help you to stand unique amongst the crowd.
Boredom is Evil
Hackers should neither be bored nor have to menial at mindless, monotonous work. To behave like a hacker, you should automate away the boring bits as much as possible, not just for yourself but for everybody else.
Persistence
This is one important trait which a hacker needs to possess. After all nothing worth having comes easy. You don’t have to see the whole stair case, you just need to take that one step and keep trying until you succeed. You just need to focus, study and practice. I assure you that when learn about hacking, it may not be easy. It’s a long, long way – but you can always learn.
Patience
So, you think you’re gonna be the greatest hacker in the world overnight? Unfortunately, that’s far from being true. Hard work and dedication are a must that plays a significant role to become a smart hacker.
Other than these intermediary skills, you need to have a basic computer knowledge and precise understanding about the following-
- Sound Programming Knowledge– This is one fundamental skill to achieve the skill level of a hacker. Learning to program is like learning to write a good natural language. It is always better to have some basic knowledge of programming languages like C, HTML, PHP, JavaScript, etc.
- Networking– Get some knowledge about networking and wireless technologies to become wireless hacker.
- Operating System– Learn everything about OS on how to operate them, working procedure, accessing to API’s and much more.
- Cryptography– If you acquire deep knowledge in cryptography that includes usage, implementation and breaking process, then it would be much better to become a great hacker.
- Reverse Engineering– It enables you to open a piece of malware and re-build it with additional features and capabilities enabling the hacker to take an existing exploit and change its signature.
