Why Did My SIM Send a Text Message?

Your SIM card sent a text message because it is trying to communicate with your carrier network. In case your iPhone needs to be updated, it tries to send a message to your network. If it gets stuck in a loop the user gets this pop-up.

Fix 1: Check For Carrier Settings Updates From Service Provider

If the carrier service provider releases an update to improve iPhone’s ability to connect with the network and there is also an update by Apple then the SIM card has to send a text message to update itself. To see if the update is available:

• Launch Settings on your iPhone.
• Next, tap on General.
  
• Now, tap on About and wait for about 15-30 seconds.
  

If an update is available, you will see a Carrier Settings Update popup.

• Tap on Update.
  

However, in case, pop-up doesn’t appear after 30 seconds, it means update is not available.

Fix 2: Reset Network Settings

Reset Network Settings on iPhone will reset the phone to factory settings which will reset it to default values.

When you reset network settings on your iPhone, all the Cellular, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and VPN settings on your iPhone will reset to default values. Before performing this step, make sure you note down your login information like Wi-Fi name, password etc. This will fix the glitch on your iPhone.

• Launch Settings on your iPhone.
