What is Code 45 Error?
This error occurs when your computer system doesn’t read or acknowledge the device you’ve connected to it by claiming that the device either not connected or was probably connected previously and cannot be located now.
It can be caused by a malfunction in the relevant Windows registry as well. Ot it can be a driver issue. Here are some fixes that take on several different causes of the error and tries to fix it permanently.
How to Fix Code 45 Error in Windows Device Manager?
1. Reconnecting the Device
Step 1: Disconnect the device from the PC.
Step 2: Check whether the connecting cables and the ports are in the right condition and are working correctly.
Step 3: Replace the cable if you find any fault in it.
Step 4: Reconnect the device.
Step 5: You can check if the device is connected properly this time. Head to the Device Manager and select the device driver. You’ll see a message “This Device is Working Properly.”
2. Manually Uninstall and Reinstall the Driver
Step 1: Head to Device Manager.
Step 2: Right-click on the and choose Uninstall Device.
Step 3: Check the box for Delete the Driver Software for this Device.
Step 4: Confirm Uninstallation.
Step 5: Click on Scan for Hardware Changes icon on the bar above.
Step 6: Restart your PC and check if the Error Code 45 is fixed.

3. Run the Hardware and Device Troubleshooter for Windows 10
Step 1: Head to the File Explorer and enter the location – C:\Windows\System32.
Step 2: Find an executable file called – msdt.exe. This is the Hardware & Devices Troubleshooter. Run the file.
Step 3: A new pop-up window will ask you to enter a passkey. This is provided by the support professional.
Step 4: To go past this pop-up, open Windows Powershell, and type the following command –
msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic
Step 5: You’ll now get past the pop-up and see the troubleshooting option. There click on Next.
Step 6: Follow the instructions and complete troubleshooting.
Step 7: Restart PC.

4. Run System File Checker
This tool will check for any corrupt file that is responsible for your device to run properly, and the malfunction is resulting in Error Code 45:
Step 1: Search for Command Prompt and run it as administrator.
Step 2: There, type the command SFC /scannow and press Enter.
Step 3: It will run an automatic verification of all the system files to check for a malfunction.
Step 4: If there’s an issue. It will be fixed. You can then exit the Command Prompt.

5. Run a Check Disk Command

Step 1: Search for Command Prompt and run it as administrator.
Step 2: There, type the command chkdsk.exe /f /r and press Enter.
Step 3: Type Y to confirm the command.

6. Run a DISM Scan
Step 1: Search for Command Prompt and run it as administrator.
Step 2: There, type the command DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and press Enter.
Step 3: The scan may take some time. Wait for it to finish.
Step 4: Restart your PC and rerun the Device Manager.

7. Update Device Drivers
Step 1: Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
