The smallest of all the Amazon Alexa devices, it is probably the cheapest and comes in two variant and three colors namely black, grey and white. The new variant displays time on the side and has a slightly different process for factory reset. To reset it, follow these steps:
Reset Echo Dot second generation: Press and hold the volume down button denoted by a minus sign along with the microphone button simultaneously for 25 seconds. Release the buttons when the light ring changes its color to orange.
Reset Echo Dot third generation (with clock): Press and hold the Action Button which is denoted by a dot, for 30 secs.

Reset Alexa Echo first generation: There is a small button underneath the device which can be pressed by using a pointed device similar to a paper clip for 30 seconds. Note that the light ring must turn off, and then turn on again before you release the button.
Reset Alexa Echo second/third generation: It is much easier resetting the newer generations, just press and hold the volume down and microphone buttons together for 25 seconds. Do not release the hold on the buttons until the light turns to orange.

Reset Alexa Echo Show 8 second-generation & Echo Show 5. These are Amazon Alexa devices with a screen and hence can be restored to the factory default by on-screen options.
