Many a time, while surfing online you might have received a message that says, ‘the site ahead contains malware’ or ‘deceptive site ahead’. This is because the site that you are trying to visit is harmful or contains some malicious content that could be harmful and dangerous for your system.
Google Chrome does not recommend you visit such sites and therefore generates a warning on your screen. This blog is about how to manage such warnings in case you want to visit these sites or want to download some content from such unsafe sites.
Chrome Displays Warnings About unsafe & False Content
In Google Chrome, the settings for virus and malware detection in enabled by default. As the detection is turned on, Chrome often throws up prompts that are warnings and recommendations to not to visit particular sites as they can be harmful and dangerous for our system and data as well. Let’s have look at these messages and what they mean.
- The Site Ahead Contains Malware
This message means that the website you are visiting might download and install any dangerous tool or software that may have malware in it. - Deceptive Site Ahead
It means the website you are about to visit is a phishing website. - The Site Ahead Contains Harmful Programs
This message indicates that the site you are visiting may trick you in downloading some software and programs that can create issues and have viruses. This may lead to problems while surfing online. - This Page is Trying to Load Scripts from Unauthenticated Sources
This means that the website is not safe & secure for online browsing. - Download with Caution
There are some websites that influence you for downloading software that is hazardous and dangerous. These websites prompt messages like ‘You have a Virus’ on screen to trick you. Beware, not to allow downloading of these types of software.

How to View Unsafe Sites, Content, and Downloads?
If you have some important files & software that are important for the system or for personal use, Chrome has options by which you can visit unsafe sites and can even download the software. Although, this is not recommended by Google Chrome.
Visit an Unsafe Page:
- Open Google Chrome on your system.
- When you enter the URL of an unsafe website, Warning pop up will display at the top. The page where you see a warning, click ‘Details’ option given.
- Now press ‘Visit this unsafe site’.
- Once you are done with above given steps, page will load and you can view the content.
Note: Whenever you visit an unsafe page or website, Google Chrome tries to remove the inappropriate and unsafe content from the page.
To View Full Page:
- Open Google Chrome on your system.
- Go on to the misleading or deceptive site, on right side of the address bar, select ‘Content Blocked ’.
- Now in alert, select option ‘Load full site’.
- Entire page will now load and you can view the content.
Note: If there is an error that display scripts, in that case click ‘Load unsafe script’ for viewing the entire page.
Download an Unsafe File:
If you want to download a file or a software that is unsafe and hazardous, you can do it by performing the simple given steps below.
- Open Google Chrome on your system.
- On the page at the top-right side of the address bar, press and select Downloads.
- In Downloads, search and find the file that you want to download on your system.
- Now press ‘Recover malicious file’.
Disable Warnings About Unsafe & False Sites
If you don’t want to receive any warnings about the harmful and hazardous sites, you can disable the deceptive and dangerous site alert from settings. This will also lead to disabling of download warnings. Although, this is not recommended by Google Chrome.
- Open Google Chrome on your system.
- Now at the top-right side of the page, press and select Settings.
- In Settings, go to the bottom of the page and press ‘Advanced’.
- After this, in Privacy and Security, disable ‘Protect you and your device from dangerous sites’.
All in all, follow these steps only when there is something useful and you might want to use it on your system. Otherwise, visiting such sites is strictly not recommended.
