How To Enable New Media Controls In Android 11 Beta

Google has made available the Beta version of its latest Android OS Version 11, and some new and exciting features are introduced in stock Android-powered phones for the first time.

Among the new features introduced in Android 11 Beta, there are the new media controls. This new feature will now allow users to access media controls directly in the quick menu.

Currently, the media controls pop up with the notifications below the quick settings menu whenever a media app runs in the background. With this feature, the media controls will be tucked within the quick settings menu and will separate them from the notifications panel.

To enable the new media controls in Android 11 Beta, users have to dig deep within the Developer Options. Since Android 11 will see many upgrades before it is launched for consumers, it is possible that enabling new media controls would be easier; however, for now, you must follow the steps explained in this article to access these controls in the quick settings menu. It’s a little bit of hustle to go through these steps, but it’s just a one-time affair, and once the process is completed, you’ll be all set.

Enable Developer Options on Android Phone

To enable the new media controls on Android 11 Beta, you first must enable the developer options on your phone. In case you have already turned on the Developer Options on your phone, then you can directly proceed to the next heading, else, follow the instructions below:

Step 1: Open Settings on your Android phone.

Step 2: Head to the option – About Phone.

Step 3: Scroll down to the option that says, Build Number.

Step 4: Tap on the option for Build Number seven times. You’ll get a pop-up message saying – You have Unlocked Developer Options.

Step 5: Now jump back to the Settings menu and proceed with the next set of steps to enable new media controls on Android 11 Beta.

Enabling New Media Controls in Android 11 Beta

Step 1: Open up the Settings menu on your Android phone.

Step 2: Scroll down the menu and then, find and tap on the System section of the general settings. In some phones, the Developer Options are in Additional Settings.

Step 3: On the next page, tap on Advanced.

Step 4: You’ll see Developer Options in this section. If you don’t, then refer to the previous heading and first unlock the Developer Options on your phone.

Step 5: In Developer Options, scroll down to the Media section.

Step 6: Find the option for Media Resumption in the section.

Step 7: Toggle ON the Media Resumption option.

Note. Currently, these settings are only available in Google Pixel devices. As soon as Google rolls out the new Android 11 for all consumers, the phones running on stock Android OS will be the first ones to receive the update notification. And that would be followed by the update being made available for Android phones based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP).
