How To Copy Content From Textbooks With Google Lens

The copy-paste feature of Internet has been an amazing gift for both students and professionals. A respite to the workload, it is impossible to imagine life without this feature. But sometimes, everything is not available on the Internet and you have to take help from books or documents on paper. If you are maintaining notes online or working in word document in office, typing is the only option left to copy the content from the textbook.

The gap between the screen and textbook is difficult to fill. You can either take a picture or type things on your smartphone. Life would be so relaxing if we could just copy the content directly from the book on our phone or computers. Well, there is a method that can help you copy paste the content from your android phone. What is Google Lens?

It is an app that acts as visual search engine. The major function of this app is to examine images and provide relevant information about that picture. Based on Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning, the app is integrated with both Google Assistant and Google Photos.

Launched last year, Google Lens was earlier available only on Google Pixel devices. But now, it is gradually making its path to all Android devices and to iOS. Presently, if you own an Android Phone that is running on the latest version of operating system, then you are eligible to get access to the Lens feature of Google.

How to Copy Text from Google Photos

Google Lens is a multi-feature app that can be used to capture Email address and other information, gather all information about a book by scanning its cover, add events to your calendar etc. But many don’t know that you can use Google Lens to copy text from any book or document to your devices as well.

In any Android device, Google Photos and Google Assistants are available in pre-installed format. Here, we will show you how to use Google Photos to copy texts to your devices.

Step 1: Click a clear picture of the text that you want to copy. If you are using Google Assistant to copy the text, then this step is unnecessary. But for Google Lens, this step is mandatory.

Step 2: After launching the Google Photos app, click on the picture of the text to open it.

Step 3: You will find the Lens icon at the bottom, second from the right. Just tap on it.

Step 4: Within seconds, Artificial Intelligence will recognize the content of the image and will start displaying search results based on what it finds in the image. However, that’s not what we are looking for.

Step 5: Click Text selection at the top of the screen. Now, the text in the photo will be displayed down. It doesn’t matter whether the text is clear or not. Google Lens can easily read all the text, even if it is difficult for you to read.

Step 6: To select all the text simply tap anywhere. Clicking on the entire text will give you three options that is to copy, search on the web, and translate. However, it doesn’t allow you to edit it. Just long press anywhere and this will bring up the text selection markers. Now, move them around, select the text and tap Copy, Web search or anything depending on your requirement. You can proceed and paste it wherever you want.

You can also use Google Assistant to copy text to your devices. However, not all phone supports Google Lens in Google Assistant. if you want to, just long press the home button of your smartphone and click on the icon of Google Lens at the bottom of the screen. Rest of the procedure is same as for Google Photos.
