As most of the world’s population is homebound, they are solely relying on passing time through entertainment channels and streaming services. Netflix, being one of the most favoured video streaming services, is used to consume content all over the world. When we say a lot, it really does mean a lot, as Netflix changed the default streaming quality to standard from 4K video quality. Now, it’s reported that Netflix is not at all functioning for a few countries because of high traffic.
Users started facing this issue yesterday at noon, i.e. on the 25th of March. A number of users took to Twitter with the hashtag – #NetflixDown to report it. People who are trying to contact Netflix, get the message on the official support page as such – “We are currently experiencing a higher than normal wait time for support via phone and chat.” Mostly, users from Europe and the US are hit by this.
Earlier YouTube also downgraded its streaming quality as the traffic increased exponentially over the last week. Although, it was decided the same for Netflix and it was also made available in standard quality for most users. It is reducing the video quality in countries like India, Italy, Australia, and Spain.
How to find out if Netflix is down for your place?
Well, there is a website dedicatedly working on this issue, which helps in reporting to you about which websites or applications are down. You can check the DownDetector to learn if Netflix is down for your region or not. If your region is not mentioned in the list, then don’t worry, if Netflix keeps freezing on your computer, it might be a glitch of your device or a temporary error.
What can you do if Netflix is not working for you?
Do not panic as Netflix is not working for you, because there are plenty of other activities that you can do while staying indoors. But if you want to keep yourself busy while watching movies, TV shows and stand ups, you can check other video streaming platforms. Get on HBO now, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, Hulu, Apple TV which are good Netflix alternatives.
We hope this does not affect the video streaming platform much as it will open doors for third party websites showing the content for free although illegally.
