Apple’s big event for the year was held yesterday at Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California. The exciting new flagships iPhones were announced along with Apple Watch and more. With every passing year, Apple is working to stay on top by providing newer technology and better smartphones, but to our dismay this year they aren’t budget friendly as well.
Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple welcomed everyone at the event and gave a brief on the history of Apple. He said, “Apple was founded to make your computer more personal.” Then how, the company moved to different categories of devices, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod, and Apple Watch. He also talked about how Apple is working on its Stores to make them customer friendly. According to him, Apple emphasizes on customer’s liking and they are the center of everything we designed. Cook quoted, “iOS is not only the most advanced smartphone but also most personal”
The trillion-dollar company hosts this hardware event to share the future of profitable product lines. Well, Apple bragged how it re-engineered and revamped, provide us with something better, although there is nothing new. The newer models seem to be an update to the past releases instead of being something different.

Apple Watch
Tim Cook started with Apple Watch and quoted, “Apple Watch is not only number one smartwatch in the world but it is the number one watch, period! As Apple Watch was the first of its kind, therefore has set the ground of smartwatches and introduced the world with tasks that you never thought could be possible via a watch. Let’s see what is new on Apple Watch this year.
Over the years, we have seen the minor upgrades of Apple Watch, but this year, the shape of the Apple Watch has changed. It now comes with larger curved edge display. There are two versions, one comes with 32% bigger display and another one has a 35% larger display. Although it is a bit thinner on the wrist. The Apple Watch Series 4 comes with health-monitoring features. One of them is the capability of performing an electrocardiogram in 30 seconds.
Apple Watch comes with a unique watch display face which interacts with the shape of the display. The Digital Watch comes with haptic feedback, which is great for calendars and Podcast. The back of the Apple Watch is made of black ceramic and sapphire crystal, meaning clear calls via Apple Watch.
If we talk about inside of it, there is S4 processor and a new accelerometer and gyroscope. Apple Watch series can detect if the person using it has fallen down, then Series will initiate an alert and you can make a call for help. However, you are immobile for a minute, then it will start the call immediately and sends messages to the emergency contacts about your whereabouts. Series 4 detects risk trajectory and impact acceleration and this is how it analyzes a fall.
The Apple Watch 40mm size starts from $399 and LTE version starts from $499. You can preorder your Apple Watch starting September 14th. The watch has a 18-hour battery life and now comes with new bands. The watch comes in three different colors: silver, gold and space grey.
The Three New iPhones
Apple announced three iPhones this year as well. iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR. With XS being 5.8 OLED, XS Max with 6.5 OLED and XR with 6.1 LCD screen. Let’s know about them in detail.
iPhone XS and XS Max
iPhone X is getting an upgrade with iPhone XS and XS Max. Both of the devices are coming in Space Grey, Silver and Gold in different sizes. The XS comes with 5.8-inch OLED screen and along with 2.7 million pixels; however, the XS Max comes with 6.5-inch OLED screen & 3.3 million pixels.
Both of the devices come with the new A11 bionic. According to Apple, A12 is a seven-nanometer chip, first of its kind and has an ability to run 5 trillion operations per second which is quite larger than A11’s. These devices have a six-core CPU, 6.9B transistors, 8 core neural engine along with four core GPU.
iPhone XS and XS Max come with dual camera system at the back, which 12 MP wide-angle camera which comes with image stabilization sensor, supported by a 12MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. The front camera on both the devices is the True Depth camera which enables you to use it for FaceID facial recognition. All this will help in getting clear photos.
About the battery, XS comes with 30 minutes longer battery life and the XS Max could last for up to 1.5 hours longer. Now iPhones are coming with dual SIM cards, so now you can have two phone numbers on a single headset.
Both of them come with 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB internal storage. You can pre-order them starting September 14 and will start shipping September 21. If we talk about prices, XS will start at $999, and the XS Max will start from $1,099.
iPhone XR
Apart from iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR is also announced by Apple. This is a 6.1 inch LCD phone. You might be thinking what is so special in this LCD handset, well, the screen comes with liquid retina, is an edge-to-edge LCD, which is one of its kind. Like other two in the league, it also has an A12 bionic chip, FaceID, and no home button. It also has a front camera with TrueDepth. However, it has a single 12 MP wide-angle camera and also doesn’t have Force Touch (3D Touch)
It is available in White, Blue, Black, Yellow and Coral, It could also come in Red Color. All of the variants are of aluminum band along with glass rear. iPhone XR is the lowest price of all three announced models. The price starts $749 and has three internal storage options 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. iOS 12
Apple has also talked about the iOS 12. iOS 12 will be available for download on September 17. Also, the software update for HomePod, AI speakers will come out on the same day. However, macOS Mojave for MacBook and Mac will get released on September 24.
So, these were highlights discussed at the Apple’s big event held yesterday. Apple excluded a lot of things that should have been talked about such as AirPower, wireless charger, AirPods, next-gen, MacBook Air, AR headset. Also, there were speculations about over-ear headphones.
There was so much to share and discuss but Apple kept it concrete and only talked about the products and hardware that it redesigned to fit in.
