With each Windows 10 update we get to see new intuitive features which enhance our experience. Windows 10 Fall creators update introduced a new “Continue on PC” feature which allows you to seamlessly share webpages links between your PC and Smartphone (Android or iPhone). This is one of Microsoft’s best approach to enhance PC-to-Phone integration so that our smartphone and desktop can work together.
So, here’s a quick guide on how to use Windows 10 Continue on PC feature to seamless share webpages between your smartphone and PC. All you have to do is make a few tweaks in your PC and phone’s settings.
Let’s get started!
First Link your Phone with PC
The first step to link both the devices is to connect your phone to your desktop. For that open Settings app on your Windows 10, and tap on “Phone” icon.
Tap on “Add Phone” button if you’re using this feature for the first time.
To link your phone with Windows 10 you’ll have to follow a few on-screen instructions. You’ll be prompted to enter your phone number. Microsoft will then send a link of First app on your number.
You will receive a text message on your Smartphone which contains a downloadable link for “Continue on PC” app. Based on what operating system your smartphone uses you’ll be headed to respective app store where you can download the app on your phone.
Android users might see this app with a different name known as “Microsoft Launcher”. Just make sure you make it your default app launcher once the app is downloaded on your device.
How to Use “Continue on PC” Feature
Once your smartphone and desktop are successfully linked the next step is to see how this feature works.
Say you’re reading an article on your iPhone’s Safari browser and you wish to instantly share it to your desktop. Now tap the “Share” icon from the bottom menu and select “More”.
From the list tap on “Continue on PC” option.
On Android it’s pretty much the same, simply tap on share button and select “Continue on PC” option.
Next, you’ll be prompted to sign up to your respective Microsoft account for security reasons. Go ahead, do that to proceed further. Here you’ll see a list of all the PCs linked with your Microsoft account.
Tap on your PC name to share the webpage link on your desktop.
As soon as you tap on a PC name the link will immediately be sent to your desktop so that you can access it there. Tapping on link will open the web page in Microsoft Edge browser and unfortunately you can’t change it. Other browsers like Google Chrome and Firefox don’t support this functionality as of now so you might just have to stick to Edge for now.
