Simple Ways to Change Language Settings on Google Chrome

Just because Google knows about your browsing habits, doesn’t mean Google Chrome knows the language you want to browse the web.

Fortunately, after following the steps explained below no longer you need to stay with this presumption. Here, we explain how to change the language in Chrome.

How to change Chrome Language Settings

It only takes a few steps to change the language in Chrome. The process might seem intimidating, but it is very easy even the beginners can perform it.

Below are the steps performed on the latest version of Chrome on Windows 10, but this doesn’t mean you cannot apply them on Chromebook.

The same steps will work on Chromebook. Locate menu button > Settings the same steps will work on Microsoft’s Chromium-based Edge Browser.

Moreover, if you are using Chrome on Mac it will display in the default system language.

Steps to change Chrome browser language

Step 1: Launch Chrome browser.

Step 2: Click three horizontal dots on the right side of your Chrome window to open the browser menu.

Step 3: Click Settings.

Alternatively, you can type “chrome://settings/” in the address bar.

Step 4: Here, scroll to the bottom to unhide Advanced options.

Step 5: Scroll down more to find Languages. Once there, click the downward arrow next to Language. to get more options.

Step 6: Click the Add languages button.

Step 7: This will open a new popup window, scroll the list to find the language you want to choose. You can select more than one language. Once selected click the Add button.

Step 8: You’ll now see the selected language under the language list. You can change the order by clicking on three dots next to each language.

Once done with these steps, close the Settings tab and exit your Chrome browser. The changes you made will be saved & updated.

Now that you’ve added your preferred language to Google Chrome, you must want to use Google Chrome in that language. Right?

This was the whole purpose.

How to display Google Chrome in your preferred language?

Step 1: Since we exited from Google Chrome, you’ll need to relaunch it.

Step 2: Click three horizontal dots > Settings > Advanced > Language.

Step 3: Here, you can see the language you added. Now, click on three dots next to that language and check the box next to Display Google Chrome in this language.

Step 4: Once done you’ll need to Relaunch the browser. For this simply click the Relaunch button present next to the selected language.

This will relaunch the browser and you will now see it in the selected language will be used when translating pages and displaying content.

With this new change, you’ll be able to see all the content in your preferred language.

However, to get the Translate option when you visit a page checkmark the box next to Offer to translate pages in this language.

You can get this option in the same manner as you got Display Google Chrome in this language. This means you will need to follow the steps as explained above.

To change the language anytime, simply uncheck the boxes you selected you can follow these steps without any restriction. Not only this, when you want to translate the language on Google Chrome translate page will help.
