Well, we guess you must be wondering why we’re using the old-school walkie talkie lingo in the 21st century, right? Here come one good news fellas! With Apple Watch OS 5 you can now connect with your friends and family via push to talk conversations right from your wrist. Agree or not but there’s definitely something nostalgic about walkie-talkie conversations. It’s a super fun way of interacting with our friends and can pass any random message with a push of a button.

So, if you’re already an Apple Watch user, guess it’s time to upgrade to Watch OS 5 and start using this coolest form of communication with your close ones.

Getting Started with Walkie Talkie App

As soon as you’ll upgrade to Watch OS 5, you will find a new Walkie Talkie app included in the list of apps. To start using this app, tap the yellow colored walkie talkie icon from your watch screen to start communicating.

First, you need to add your friends with whom you wish to connect. Follow these quick steps to add your friends on walkie-talkie app.

Launch the Walkie Talkie app.

Scroll through the list of your contacts by twisting the digital crown button on your Apple watch.

Pick a friend or contact from the list. Just make sure he has an Apple Watch and has already upgraded to Watch OS 5.

As soon as you’ll tap on their name, the watch will connect you with them. You will see a yellow colored card by their name on the watch screen.

To begin talking, tap the “Talk” button on the screen to initiate a conversation.

Once you’ve recorded your message, wait for a while until your friend receives the message. You will see a “Connecting to ” pop up on watch screen indicating that the connection is being established.

If by any chance, your friend is unable to connect at the moment you’ll be notified.

If any of your other friends add you as their contact, you will see an incoming notification on your Apple watch screen. Tap on “Allow” to if you want to connect with them via Walkie talkie app in future.

How to Use the Walkie Talkie App on Apple Watch

Once you’ve added all your close connections on your Walkie Talkie app here’s what you need to next to start interacting.

Launch the Walkie Talkie app.

Tap on the yellow card with your friend’s name to send a message.

Hold down the “Talk” button and record your message via Watch speaker. When you’re done recording release the “Talk” button.

Your friend will then accept your message and send a response in the same way.

Walkie Talkie is more of a one-to-one form of communication which surely remind you of your old school days.

How to Quickly Access Walkie Talkie Mode on Apple Watch

To access Walkie-talkie in quick mode, head on to Control center by swiping on watch screen. From here you can quickly enable or disable the Walkie-talkie mode by tapping the yellow colored icon.

Suppose, you’re out in a meeting or driving where you don’t want to be disturbed by random voice messages from your friends, you can instantly disable the walkie-talkie mode via tapping the icon. If you see the icon in yellow it indicates that you’re active. Disabling Walkie talkie mode will turn the icon in grey color means that you no longer can receive any messages during that period of time.
