The name iTunes may surprise you given the fact that Apple has already killed iTunes with iOS 13 and replaced it with Apple Music. But, for those who don’t know, iTunes is still running on Windows quite fruitfully. And, if you wish to know how to transfer music from iTunes to Android devices of yours, then iTunes for Windows is the key. There are two options, you can opt to have your music library on iTunes sync to Android:
- You can use the Apple Music App directly to sync iTunes on Android, through the compatible Android Apple Music app, available on Play Store.
- You can manually transfer music files from iTunes to Android.
Plus, you need to keep a check on a couple of restraints, if you want to move ahead with any of the two options:
- First, you need to ensure that you have subscribed to Apple Music services. You can subscribe to any of the three plans.
- Second, you must have both iTunes on your PC, and the Apple Music app on Android are signed in through the same Apple ID.
- Last, to have iTunes music on Android and play it offline, you must download all the songs on your music library. Only then, they would be accessible on your PC.
So, read ahead and learn how to transfer music from iTunes to Android.
Transfer iTunes Music to Android Phone using iTunes Windows
Step 1: Download iTunes on Windows if you haven’t already.
Step 2: Open iTunes on your PC. Head to Edit>>Preferences.
Step 3: Click on General. Here you’ll see a box saying iCloud Music Library. Make sure that box is checked.
Step 4: Close Preferences. Now, click File and then from the drop-down menu, head to Library>>Update iCloud Music Library.
This process would start the sync between your iCloud account and iTunes music library. It may take some time depending on the size of your iTunes music library.
Step 4: Once the sync is completed, go to your Android phone’s Apple Music App.
Step 5: Tap on Library in the Apple Music Android app. All your synced iTunes music library and your voice memos would be listed here.
Step 6: Press on one of the songs and enjoy iTunes music on Android.
Step 7: For availing offline playback, tap the download button for your favorite songs and list them on your device storage.
Transfer Music from iTunes to Android using Manual Copy-Paste Process
Though the above option works pretty well, you’d have to repeat it again and again for every new song you want to add. This is because Apple Music syncs across devices only for iOS and iPadOS. For Android, Apple doesn’t fit well. So, a better way to transfer music from iTunes to Android is to copy it directly via your PC and paste in your phone’s storage. Here’s how to do it:
Step 1: Connect your phone to your PC via USB file transfer options.
Step 2: Head to C:\Users\<yourusername>\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\. Type this path in file explorer, and you’ll be redirected to the iTunes media folder. Instead of <yourusername>, type-in your system admin name.
Step 3: Here, select music files or folders and copy them (Ctrl+C).
Step 4: Head to your Phone storage and paste these files in a designated folder for iTunes music.
Step 5: Now you can use Google Play Music or any third-party music player app to sync this folder with your phone’s music library.
By following these steps, you can close the loop and connect iTunes and Android finally. Apple has been very consistent over end-to-end control over Apple platforms and has kept itself from cross-platform syncs. However, these recent developments have allowed users to sync a few services on Android.
By transferring iTunes music to Android phones, you’d be able to enjoy music from your iTunes library on your Android device as well.
