Step 2: Activate Location services

Apple Watch needs GPS tracking to estimate the distance traveled by you. No matter which Apple Watch gen you are using, if you want to get accurate results on counting steps, you need to activate location services.

 

Step 3: Activate fitness tracking

Now when you have turned on Location services, let’s proceed further.

Apple Watch & iPhone use an accelerometer to measure full body movement to track an activity. When GPS info is unavailable, the accelerometer will do the work. Settings for both phone and watch are different.
