How To Permanently Delete Photos On iOS 12

Announced at the Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference on June 4, 2018, iOS 12 as we all know is the successor of iOS 11. It may look similar to iOS 11, but it includes various performance and battery saving updates. Besides, new features iOS 12 brings some changes to the latest iPhone and iPad software and the way several things works. One of them is deleting photos permanently from iPhone that we will discuss in this article.

When it comes to sharing and managing photos in iOS 12 there are varied changes. In iOS 11 to delete photos permanently users had to go to Recently Deleted album and remove photos from there too. This functionality hasn’t changed completely in iOS 12 the only change you will see is in the appearance and the way you locate the option.

Here, we shall explain how you can find this option and permanently delete photos from iPhones running iOS 12.

Note: As we write, beta 2 version of iOS 12 is available to those who are registered as Apple developer, however, we expect a public beta to be released sometime soon.

How to Permanently Delete Photos on iPhone Running iOS 12

  1. Launch Photos app.
  2. Next scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap on Albums tab.
  3. Here, swipe at the very bottom and tap on Recently Deleted.
  4. Next, tap on Select present at the top right corner of the screen.
  5. Here you will be able to see two options:

Delete All: If you want to delete all the photos in a go select this option.

Delete Individual Images: To delete individual photos select the photos and tap on Delete.

This way you will be able to delete all photos permanently from your iPhone that is running iOS 12. These steps may look similar to iOS 11 but once you use the interface you will see the difference. As the option “Recently Deleted” is hidden.

How to Recover Recently Deleted Photos in iOS 12

Deleted some of your precious memories accidentally and now looking for a way to recover them? Worry not, you can restore them without any hassle using the steps mentioned below:

  1. Open Photos app.
  2. Next tap on Albums tab.
  3. Now, scroll down and look for the option Recently Deleted.

  4. Next tap on Select option present at the top right corner.
  5. To recover all the deleted files tap on Recover All option. However, if you wish to recover only a selected few, select them and then tap on Recover.

This way you will be able to recover accidentally photos from Photos app. Also note deleted photos automatically get deleted after 30 days.

Using these option you can both permanently delete photos from your iPhone and can recover them too. Photos app offer some amazing features like “For You” tab using which you can create a shared iCloud photo album. This may not sound to be a great feature but it helps to organize and manage photos on cloud in a long run.
