How To Manually Customize Android Status Bar And Notifications Bar

Android is one of the most customizable operating systems ever designed. It provides personalization options as compared to other mobile OS. They can head towards the official Google Play Store and search for Customization. Hundreds of apps would be displayed in different categories, including Launcher apps, Icon Packs, Android Themes, Live Wallpapers, Notification & Star Bar Customization Apps.

To be honest, using the Launcher Apps can undoubtedly transform your smartphone’s overall look and feel. But it can’t tweak all the elements on your device, including Notification Center and Status Bar. Hence, you need to use dedicated apps to customize the same.

In this article, we’ll discuss both manual and automatic (with apps) to alter the appearance of your Notification and Status bar. Let’s start with the basics!

Changing The Status Bar Manually

  1. Pull down the slider below the status bar
  2. On the top right click on three vertical dots
  3. Choose Status bar
  4. Here you can choose whether you wish to have only 3 recent notifications or All notifications. You can even choose to show battery percentage as well

Changing The Notifications

In simple terms, every app sends a notification as and when activity happens. For instance, every time you’ll get a WhatsApp text, you’ll be notified. Android allows you to choose which all apps should be able to notify you. To modify app notifications follow the steps below –

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap on notifications
  3. Under Recently sent click on See all
  4. From the dropdown, under App notifications head, you can choose apps whose notifications you want or don’t want to appear. To make a notification appear/ not appear in the notification shade toggle the switch against an app to the right/ left.
