Step 1. Go to WhatsApp and tap on it to launch.
Step 2. Locate Menu Button
Step 3. Go to Settings
Step 4. Navigate to Chat-> Chat Backup.
Step 5. You will find an option, Backup to Google Drive just below Chat Backup. You can also set the backup frequency daily, weekly, monthly, when you tap, “Backup” as per your preference and convenience.
Step 6. Once you have chosen the option for backup frequency, you will be redirected to a page, wherein it will ask to login to your Google account, to back up your data to the Google Drive.
Step 7. Now you need to choose the network type which you want to set for Backup. Back up over: WiFi or cellular.
And this is how you do it!! Now, all your WhatsApp data will be securely backed up on your Google Drive on a regular interval on its own. Keeping your data on Google Drive, keep it safe and also add an extra layer of security.
If you want to restore your Data on your WhatsApp account, here is what you need to do:
Step 1. Add the same Google account on your Phone which you used for backup.
Step 2. If you have reinstalled WhatsApp, it will ask you for a verification number, once you are done with it, it will ask you to restore data from Google Drive.
The restoring of data will start and you need to wait for some time as it may take a while and once it is done, you will get all your data restored on your WhatsApp document.
