Are you paying a handsome amount to your Internet service provider, and still not getting the desired browsing speed? Or finding your Internet speed so sluggish or crawling that even opening a normal web page is a pain. Well before contacting or cursing your Internet service provider, do go through this article.
It is correct that the service provider handles the Internet speed but there can some other factors as well which can ruin your browsing experience. One such factor is the default DNS (Domain Name System) which is used by ISP.
Before we learn how to customize the DNS setting here is a brief description of DNS.
What Is DNS?
DNS abbreviated as Domain Name System is a centralized naming system that changes the domain name to numerical IP address. As we all know that domain names can be easily memorized unlike IP addresses. But the Internet can only understand IP address that is in numeric form not the domain name.
Whenever a user types a name of any website on the URL of his browser the DNS server returns the corresponding IP address for the same.
Moreover, it is the primary work of the Domain Name System to not to provide the domain names but also map those names to Internet resources.
The DNS has a network of its own i.e. one DNS server can ask other DNS servers about translating a domain name to its corresponding IP address till it gets the correct result.
An ineffective DNS server can be responsible as ISP for crawling internet speed. Therefore, using an alternate DNS service will surely make your browsing speed fast blaze.
Therefore, a free to use public DNS service instead of default DNS service used by your ISP can surely help.
