Certainly, COVID-19 is changing a lot many things, tech events are being canceled; companies are looking for new ways to conduct tech events. But it has not obstructed or slowed down developers for the Android operating system.
In an announcement made by Google, Android 11 Developer Preview 3 is about to be released and it might be the final developer preview.
After Android 11 Developer Preview 1 and 2, this is another incremental update and hope after this it should be beta. This means non-pixel phones will soon be able to use Android 11.
According to Google, Android 11 DP3 contains bug fixes and certain productivity improvements. This is not all there are other changes too.
What’s new in Android 11 DP3?
Remember Android 11 DP3 is not a consumer build. It is rolled out for developers to continue testing apps. Therefore, Google has highlighted the following points:
- App exit reasons updates: There are several reasons for an app to close – user exited that or app crashed or operating system killed the app due to some reasons. To help developers govern the exact reason the Android team has updated the exit reasons API, this will provide developers with detailed app exit reasons.
- Stronger Security: There’s nothing as too much security, keeping this in mind Android 11 DP3 releases a security feature protocol GWP-ASan. This will help spot memory errors across critical components.
- ADB Incremental: Installing large APKs (usually games) with ADB (Android Debug Bridge) wastes a lot of memory. Therefore, Android 11 DP3 features ADB Incremental, that makes installing large APKs (2GB+) to an Android 11 device up to 10x faster.
- Wireless Debugging: Using a wireless connection for repairing issues has been here for a while. Android 11 DP3 makes wireless debugging easy on the Android system using a host computer.
- Data access auditing updates: This will help understand the app better and how it accesses data from which user flow.
What is Wireless Debugging?
Wireless debugging allows you to ditch USB cable and connect the phone to your computer via ADB completely over Wi-Fi.
How to get Android 11 Developer Preview 3?
Those who are running any of the previous Android Developer Preview will get over-the-air (OTA) for this release.
