Android M Tips and Tricks for You to Use Today

Android 7 or Android Nougat is out and most of us are waiting its arrival on our device. Apparently, most of us still have to hook up with Android M until we get the much awaited notification. Having said that, many will continue to use Android 6 since their devices can’t be upgraded to the newer version. In a nutshell, Android 6 is being used by a significant portion of users, who will continue to do so.

Even when we have been using Android 6 for a year or so, not all of us get to know all its tricks and hidden features. Here are some of Android M Tips and Tricks that makes your smartphone experience even better.

Uninstalling an App from the Home Screen:

Unlike before, you can uninstall an app from its home screen. All you need to do is to long press on an app on your home screen. Upon this step, you’ll get two options- Remove and Uninstall. Drag your app to the Uninstall option and remove it from your app in a tap.

Customize RAM usage:

Many of you must be grumbling about low memory on your device. This can be controlled and customized via your phone settings. Go to Settings> Memory> Memory used by Apps> tap any app> tap Info icon> Force Stop.

Halt Notification Peeking:

If you don’t like the notifications peeking on the head, you can halt them from appearing. Go to Settings> Sounds & Notifications> App Notification> Select the app> turn off Allow peeking.

Developers Option:

There are hidden features for developers in Android M. These are the features for advanced users. To turn on this, go to Settings> About Phone> tap seven time on Build Number. Your Developers option will be enabled and you can access the advanced features.

Access In-built File Manager:

You must have installed a file manager app to see through hidden files on your device. However, this can be done with your Android Settings itself. Go to Settings> Storage & USB> Internal Storage> Explore> open any folder to view its files.

Turn off Battery Optimizer to make your apps react quicker:

By default, your Android M has its battery optimizer turned on for all apps. This feature controls several things like how apps access mobile data in standby. However, if you wish to make certain apps more responsive, you can turn off their battery optimization feature. Go to Settings> Battery> tap three dots stacked> Battery Optimizer> tap the downward arrow and select All Apps> tap any app> Don’t optimize.

Optimize battery usage:

You can even ensure optimum battery usage within your Settings itself. Go to Settings> Battery> tap three dots stacked> Battery saver> Turn on Battery saver.

Customize your Quick Settings:

We have got a couple of features enabled at our quick Settings menu. This can be tweaked with a few simple steps. Pull down your Quick Settings menu and long press on Settings for 5 sec. This will turn on System UI Tuner- a hidden feature, on your device. You’ll have this feature listed on the bottom of your Settings menu.

Go to your Settings and open this option. Now open Quick Settings and customize your Quick Settings menu.

Marshmallow Easter Egg:

You can find an egg on your device with this trick. Though this is pointless but fun trick. Simply go to Settings> About Phone> repeatedly tap the Version Number until it appears. In Marshmallow, tapping the version number, reveals a graphic of the letter M. When you tap it again, you get the Easter egg.

Associate Links with Apps:

Android M allows you to set specific type of apps to open specific links. For example, if you get a mail with Facebook link, then that can be opened with Facebook itself.

This can be done with a few simple steps on Settings. Go to Settings> Apps> tap Settings icon> App links> open any App> Open supported links> Open in this app.

Have a Message on its Lock Screen:

Well it’s your phone and it can be well customized. You can put a message on its lock screen that would stay with you every time you wake up your device. For this, go to Settings> Security> Lock> Screen Message> set a message.
