All You Need to Know About Google Chrome’s New Inbuilt Ad Blocker

After a long wait Google has finally rolled out their inbuilt ad blocker for Chrome which automatically blocks annoying ads and pop-ups. Yes, you heard that right! The tech giant announced this news a year back and since then users were eagerly waiting for it to happen. Now you no longer have to experience those annoying advertisements, auto play videos and big banner ads that just don’t go away from the screen no matter how much you scroll down.

But doesn’t this all sound like a fairy tale which is too good to be true, right? Well, yes wait for it! There’s got to be some loophole to this story as well. Yes, Google Chrome now blocks ads—but not all of them. Period.

Google Chrome Doesn’t Block “All” Ads

Google’s major goal is to offer users an amazing, ad-free, smooth browsing experience. So basically, Google Chrome’s ad filter gets rid of all those advertisements that don’t follow the “Better Ads Standards”. This group used consumer research, worked together day and night to determine all those ads which annoy us the most.

Basically, not all ads are bad, right? Some ads display pretty useful content too! Hence Chrome basically combats those annoying ad creeps that are good for nothing in order to improve our browsing experience significantly.

How Does it Work?

As soon as Google’s smart algorithm detects a bad network request from any website it automatically displays an ad block message on the screen along with an option to disable it.

Once you visit any web page on Google Chrome, the ad filter runs in the background to check whether the particular website matches the ad standard or not. If the website doesn’t fulfill the criteria, it stops sending any messages including images and JavaScript on to server and it consequently blocks the ad to display on the screen.

Whenever a bad ad is caught you’ll see a notification popup near address bar with an option to disable it.

Does This In-Built Blocker Only Work on Desktop?

Well, for now this new feature is only running on the desktop version but will be soon rolling out to Android devices as well. Google has assured that the inbuilt ad blocker for mobile devices will be more effective than desktop version as it will also focus on stripping off flash animation ads and web pages which have more than 30 percent of ad density.

Which Devices Are Compatible?

As of now Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome desktops can avail the advantage of Google’s new inbuilt ad blocker. Android users will soon benefit this service however iPhone users are as of now out of luck!
