A New Tug of War between Apple and Samsung: Launch of new models

iPhone has been a premium product from start with its unique design and technology with fingerprint sensor makes it a standout.  On the other hand, with its grasp on every level of society, Samsung is one of the leading brands with Android OS. Since Day 1, there has been a strain between the two brands. Neither can afford to lose this tussle when it comes to the latest models, whether it’s Samsung S8 or Apple’s highly awaited iPhone 8.

Lately, Samsung has been in trouble due to recent unfavorable events. Burning of Samsung Note 7 in an airplane, exploding of a washing machine etc. But the one that affected the brand’s image most was Samsung’s negligence. People don’t trust the brand anymore. Many flight companies have banned Samsung Note 7 on airplanes due to the explosion fiasco.

On the other hand, Apple’s diversification has not been successful either. iPad, iPod and Apple Watch hasn’t grabbed the attention that it was launched for. iPad failed to take place of a computer, iPod is on the verge of extinction and Apple Watch is a bitter disappointment. Having said that, Apple Watch is still the best technology designed in its category.

Both companies have something to work on. While Apple can aim to improve it’s upcoming products, Samsung has to reinstate the brand image, which is a tough nut to crack.

Apple doesn’t dominate the smartphone market anymore. The control is apportioned. Android OS platform has the fair share. With Android users increasing across the world swiftly, Samsung has been of the best of all.

With Samsung Note 7 burning fiasco, Apple got the advantage, however, it would not uphold it for a longer time because Samsung didn’t fail. That means the profit may not sustain for long if Samsung recovers the brand image.

The underlying issues with the Apple phones have been the range, it’s the highest among all, which means if they introduce any new feature, they must increase the prices as well. Which is certainly not the case with Samsung or the other Android devices. Apple can’t afford to cut back on the valuation of the products, which gives an upper hand to Samsung.

Samsung has launched S8 with infinity display, better selfie camera, fast face scanning and voice assistant BIXBY to compete with the anniversary edition iPhone 8.

To Conclude:

The only problem that baffles in the way of Samsung is to reinstate their public image, but that is much easier said than done. Nevertheless, if it recovers from the previous damages, it is going to be a big obstacle in iPhone 8’s way with all new bizarre features. However, Apple still has time to get prepared for this intriguing battle.

Samsung, with its risky decision to sell refurbished Note 7s, can get the image distort and can be a further downfall for the company.

It is going to be a fascinating war between two leading smartphone companies, as Apple killed one great baby in its mother’s womb (Andy Rubin’s iPhone Killer) so Samsung better watch its back as Apple is on fire and Samsung has a few tricks on its sleeve.

For Apple, it’s not just about creating an appealing product but the execution of the plan matters, in which Samsung has them completely outsmarted.
