A New Home Shopping Website By Walmart

Walmart is all set to roll out its home goods and furnishings online. It has now decided to attract online shoppers and join the league with other brands. It gave a sneak peek of the redesigned Walmart.com which is going to be live within the next few weeks.

All these efforts are to redesign its site on the web with a focus on fashion, accessories, ornamental pieces and home furnishing. Moreover, Walmart.com home shopping unit will feature curated collections and nine shop-by-style options such as traditional, mid-century, glam, modern, farmhouse, industrial, business, transitional and Scandinavian.

Apart from offering different brands under one roof of stylists, Walmart.com also offers design tips that will help shoppers pull items together. Surely, this will be a totally opposite shopping experience for Walmart customers.

“As the head of Home for Walmart U.S. eCommerce, and admittedly design-obsessed, I’m personally excited about the changes we’re making to help our customers shop the high-quality, on-trend and, of course, affordable home assortment we offer on Walmart.com,” said Anthony Soohoo, Senior vice president and Group General Manager of Home for Walmart’s e-commerce department.

He also said, “With this launch, we’re making it faster, easier and more inspiring for customers to discover the best of our assortment no matter their personal style,”.

Walmart’s head of e-commerce, Marc Lore, has said adding specific categories within retail, including home goods and apparels, encourages more personal online shopping. That is the reason, Walmart is working at creating virtual showrooms for the customers to experience them the wool rugs, crystal chandeliers, and dining room tables, along with the other decorative and furnishing items.

According to Anthony Soohoo, shopping is a fun activity especially, when you’re doing it for your home. Putting items in context will engage more customers and help them imagine their own personal living spaces with the same products.

In the starting of this week, Walmart’s fiscal fourth-quarter earnings report shows e-commerce growth wasn’t doing so great and Walmart’s profit margins crushed one more time. Top on that, according to the reports, it was the talk of the town that Walmart shares suddenly fell over 9 percent that really forced its investors to think that Walmart might lose its position to Amazon the king of e-commerce.

Well, now Walmart is stepping their foot carefully and decided to focus heavily on competing on price, with low-cost products. Be it rugs that are starting at $17, or sofas that starting at $159 which clearly shows, Walmart is all set to challenge other retailers like Stanley Furniture, Ikea, Wayfair, and La-Z-Boy.

Well, a new website will be launched later this year and will check how people respond to this innovative move.  Walmart will be unveiling a new digital shopping experience and going to offer a dedicated space for Lord & Taylor fashions as part of a partnership signed with Hudson’s Bay Co.
