A while back Samsung’s wildcard voice assistant aka Bixby joined the league of Siri, Cortana, Alexa and other voice powered smart assistants. Bixby is capable of doing a wide range of tasks to make your Smartphone experience smoother. It allows you to focus on what’s more important while you ease down your tasks and can easily work on your favorite apps & services.
But if you’re willing to do more on your Samsung smartphones, here are 12 useful Bixby tips and tricks to make your life simpler.
Add Quick Commands
Nobody wants to memorize a long string of commands, right? Well, the good news is that you can shorten them and add quick commands on Bixby. Head on to My Bixby> Quick Commands and then tap on “Make your Own Command” option. Now select the already existing Bixby command which you wish to replace. Now tap on the microphone icon to record and replace it with a shorter command.
Share Your Current Location
With Bixby you can easily tell people where you are so that your friends and family may have a peace of mind. Suppose you’re traveling somewhere and one of your friends asks for your location all you have to say is “Hey Bixby, Text John my current location”. They will instantly be notified and can get aware about where you currently are!
Ditch the Bixby Button
For the ease of our convenience almost all latest Samsung devices are now equipped with a Bixby button. But this is none less than a nightmare as we keep on accidentally pressing it while using volume buttons. This is one of the most common challenges being faced by Bixby. So, to overcome this issue here’s a quick fix. Launch Bixby on your Samsung device, tap on three dots icon, select Settings and then uncheck Bixby voice.
Use Bixby Vision as Translator
No more relying on third party translators! You can use Bixby to translate any foreign language text which you don’t understand. Open camera and tap on the “Vision” button. Focus the camera lens on text which you wish to translate and then tap on “Translate”. Bixby will now easily translate the selected piece of text in your preferred language so that you can understand it without any hassle.
Take Notes
Why to type lengthy text notes when Bixby can easily do the job for you? Yes, you heard that right! All you have to say is “Hi Bixby, dictate” while keeping the Notes app open. From this point forward, Bixby will jot down everything you say and will save it on your Notes app.
Find Pictures
Just like other smart voice assistants work, you can use Bixby as well to find pictures from your photo gallery. Simply say “Hi Bixby, Open Gallery and please find photos of pets” or birthday, or photos which you took at a specific location etc.
Set up a Voice Password
To setup a voice password to unlock your device, head on to Settings> Unlock with Voice password and follow on-screen directions, to set up voice password for Bixby.
Entertain Yourself
Just like other smart voice assistants, Bixby is a wisecracker too! So, next time whenever you’re getting bored on a subway ride or while waiting for a friend you can ask Bixby to pump up your mood. Simply say commands like “Hi Bixby, tell me a joke” or “Rap for me” or “Beatbox for me” etc.

With the help of Bixby, you can directly post any picture on social media. All you have to do is, say a simple command like “Hi Bixby, post my last picture on Facebook”. Once you say this, Bixby will automatically open the app and make your post ready. Simply add the caption and you’re then good to go!
