YouTube is one of the best websites to watch videos in all genres. As the variety of content is vast, one can easily lose track of time. Google has started Digital Wellbeing Initiative, under this, the company is working tools to limit the screen time spent on devices.
Google has announced a feature named “Times Watched” on YouTube. Android Pie’s Digital Wellbeing feature captures the screen time of the whole device; however, this feature of YouTube will track the time consumed while watching videos. Besides, you can keep a check on time spent using “Remind yourself to take a break.” You can either set notifications to come up once a day or disable notifications along with vibration completely.

How To Keep Tabs On Time Spent Watching YouTube Videos?
Times Watched:
You can see the accurate number of hours/minutes spent on YouTube videos under the Time Watched feature
Step 1: To locate these settings, launch your YouTube app.
Step 2: Tap on Profile icon located at upper right corner of the app.
Step 3: From the options available, tap on “Times Watched”
Step 4: You can check your screen time that you spent Today, Yesterday, Past week or daily Average.
The Times Watched statistics depends on watch history. If you open YouTube in incognito mode or pause Watch History, then YouTube app will not display the accurate results.
Take a break
YouTube tools also enable you to take a break, while watching videos on YouTube app.
To do that follow these steps:
Step 1: Go to the YouTube app.
Step 2: Tap on Profile icon located at upper right corner of the app.
Step 3: Go to “Times Watched.”
Step 4: Navigate “Remind me to take a break.” Toggle the switch to the right-hand side to enable it.
Step 5: You also need to set Reminder Frequency. You will get a reminder when you cross a specific limit.
Stop Autoplay
Now Autoplay comes under Tools to manage your YouTube time section of Time Watched settings. To deactivate Autoplay in YouTube, follow these steps:
Step 1: Launch YouTube app.
Step 2: Tap on Profile icon located at upper right corner of the app.
Step 3: Now tap on “Times Watched.”
Step 4: Scroll to Tools to manage your YouTube time section and click on Autoplay. Toggle the switch to the left-hand side to disable Autoplay
Group Your Notifications
Do you get irritated by notifications every minute? Don’t worry now Google has a solution for it! Good has added a feature which clubs all notifications on one occasion every day. To enable the feature, follow these steps:
Step 1: Launch YouTube app.
Step 2: Tap on Profile icon located at upper right corner of the app.
Step 3: Now tap on “Times Watched.”
Step 4: Locate Schedule Digest & click on it.
Step 5: Now set the delivery time.
Deactivate Notifications For A Set Time:
Nobody wants to get woken by notifications. You can control notifications and their frequency. You can set a time for notifications of YouTube.
Step 1: Launch YouTube app.
Step 2: Tap on Profile icon located at upper right corner of the app.
Step 3: Now tap on “Times Watched.”
Step 4: Locate Disable Sound and Vibrations.
Step 5: Now set time when you don’t want notifications chiming on the notification center.
